Last Day in Italy - Day 6

Italy Coast and Rome - Day 6

Our last day in Italy proved to be another eventful day. Much to my revolt, we left the Cinque Terre and headed down the coast. We watched as the Cinque Terre disappeared in the rearview mirror. I would go back there again and again and again...

We drove down the coast through the small towns and villages. We stopped in one small town called Livorno. This town is right on the beach, bustling with fishing boats and people. It also had an amusement park and shopping area. It reminded me of Seaport Village in San Diego. We had lunch and walked along the marina docks a bit and the continued on our journey back to Roma. Dave really enjoyed driving here in Italy. He fit right in with his fast driving and low tolerance. As he says, "People know how to drive in Italy"!! I probably wouldn't be as good of a driver here because I am too patient and courteous.

Once we arrived in Roma, we returned the car and went back to Gavy, Chris and Deccan's house. We went back into town to exchange sunglasses that Dave got and see the Trevi Fountain in the day time.

We had a very delightful evening with Gavy, Chris and Deccan again... memories that I will cherish for a lifetime. We went to an American style steak house since we were all pretty much sick of pasta. It was very good and after much wine, beer and great conversation, laughter, reminiscing for Gavy and me and a bit of sleep, the Italian part of our trip came to an end. If we were going home, I would be very sad and I am a bit sad to be leaving Italy and Gavy and her family but on to our next adventure in Greece!!
